Tallinn Music High School Youth Choir winning the competition in England

Tallinn Music High School Youth Choir under the direction of Ingrid Kõrvits won the first prize at the Euroradio choir contest Let the Peoples Sing in the category of children’s and youth choirs. Final concert took place yesterday in BBC Philharmonic Studio, Salford. Estonian choir performed Cyrillus Kreek’s “A Harvest Song”, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi’s “Ave Maria” and Anna-Mari Kähärä’s “Kuka nukku tuutussasi”. At the same contest in 2005, Tallinn Music High School Children’s Choir under the baton of Ingrid Kõrvits was awarded the Grand Prix.

Let the Peoples Sing is an international competition for amateur choirs organised by European Broadcasting Union. Choirs can participate in three categories: children’s and youth choirs, adult choirs and choirs who perform exclusively music of particular cultural traditions or styles. Competition was initiated in 1966 with the aim of popularise the choral music via radio. Listen the broadcast of the final concert here.
