VI Estonian Young Composers’ Festival

From June 14 to 17, the Sixth Estonian Young Composers’ Festival will take place in Tartu. At the festival concerts in Tartu St. John’s Church, Estonian new chamber music will be performed, 10 premieres among others.

Festival will be opened with a concert-performance “SOUND:PICTURE” (“HELI:PILT”) on June 14 at 11 p.m. Kadri-Ann Sumera (piano), Ardo Västrik (cello) and Taavi Varm (video) will present works by Arvo Pärt, Tõnu Kõrvits, Eduard Oja, Erkki-Sven Tüür and Lepo Sumera.

On June 15 at 7 p.m ensemble “Vox Clamantis” and organist Susanne Doll (Switzerland) will give the concert, the programme includes Gregorian chant and works by Giacinto Scelsi, Petrus Wilhemi de Grudencz and Arvo Pärt.

On June 16 at 12 p.m the workshop of Tõnis Kaumann’s music will be arranged and at 7 p.m Tõnis Kaumann’s composer recital will take place. The programme includes premieres of ”Montes Gelboe” for flute, cellole, percussion and vocal ensemble, ”Prelude: Dixit Paterfamilias” for oboe, “Antifon Dixit Paterfamilia – Magnificat” for vocal ensemble, “Prelude: Mi Lagnerò Tacendo 1”, “Prelude: Mi Lagnerò Tacendo 2”, “Prelude: Mi Lagnerò Tacendo 3” for oboe and “Mi lagnerò tacendo” 4. movement for voice and oboe.

On June 17 at 11 a.m starts a church service, where Andrus Kallastu’s “Stabat Mater” for flute and electronics will be performed. At the festival final concert at 6 p.m various chamber ensembles will present the premieres of new pieces by Eino Tamberg, Kristo Matson, Mariliis Valkonen, Mart Siimer, Liis Jürgens and Tatjana Kozlova, also music by Toivo Tulev, Helena Tulve, Tõnu Kõrvits, Robert Jürjendal and Galina Grigorjeva.
