Triin Koch

Triin Koch has studied conducting at Heino Eller Tartu Music School in 1993–1997  under the guidance of Vaike Uibopuu. In 1997 Koch continued studies at Estonian Academy of Music and theatre and obtained masters degree on choir conducting under the guidance of Kuno Areng in 2004.

In 1994–1996 Triin Koch was assistant conductor of Tallinn Alumni Choir of the Tartu University Academic Female Choir and continues since 1999 as a principal conductor of the choir.  Triin Koch is also conductor of  Tartu University Chamber Choir (since 2001), Tartu University Academic Female Choir and pedagogue at Heino Eller Tartu Music School (since 2005). Currently, Koch conducts also a female choir of Heino Eller Tartu Music School. With Tartu University Chamber Choir Koch has won III prize at international  festival „Tallinn 2003“ and conductor prize at „Tallinn 2007“, I prize at singing contest „Tuljak“ (2005) and Grieg International Choir Festival in Norway (2005), also the choir has won two III prizes at the same contest in 2009.

Triin Koch has conducted at several Estonian song celebrations. In 2007 Triin Koch was conductor of girl choirs at youth song and dance  celebration „Ilmapuu lävel“ („On the Doorstep of the World Tree“), in 2009 conductor of the female choirs at XXV song celebration „ÜhesHingamine“ („To Breathe as One“) and in 2011 principal conductor of girls choirs at XI youth song and dance celebration „Maa ja ilm“ ("The Wide World Begins in a Small Land"). In 2014 Triin Koch will be principal conductor of the female choirs at XXVI song celebration „Aja puudutus. Puudutuse aeg“ („Touched by time. The Time to Touch“).

Triin Koch has also conducted vocal-symphonic works as Antonio Vivaldi Gloria and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi Stabat Mater. In 2003 Triin Koch won a title „Young conductor of the year“ and in 2008 „Conductor of the year“ by Estonian Choral Association. In addition, Koch has been awarded Tartumaa cultural prize „Kulutuuripärl 2011“ and Annual Prize of the Estonian Cultural Endowment for Music in 2011.
