The world premiere of Tõnu Kõrvits’s opera "Butterfly"



On September 13 at 7 pm, the world premiere of Tõnu Kõrvits’s opera Butterfly will take place in Estonian National Opera. The libretto was created by Maria Lee Liivak and Lauri Kaldoja after Andrus Kivirähk’s eponymous novel, the opera was commissioned on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the house of the Estonia Theatre and Concert House. The stage director of this dream-like opera, merging life, theatre and fairy-tale, is Peeter Jalakas. The main roles will be sung by Kadri Kipper, Helen Lokuta, Oliver Kuusik, Andres Köster and Rauno Elp. Also dancers Gabriel Davidsson, Daniel Kirspuu, Kaja Kreitzberg, Mari Lofitskaja, Maigret Peetson, Hedi Pundonen and Ksenia Rudakova and Estonian National Opera’s Symphony Orchestra and Chorus under the baton of Vello Pähn and Risto Joost will appear on the stage.

Next performences will take place on September 15, October 12, and November 1.
