The Usedom Festival in Germany is dedicated to Estonian music

The Usedom Music Festival, taking place for the 20th time, devotes itself to the cultural region around the Baltic Sea and focuses this year on Estonian music. Extensive music event takes place from September 21 to October 12 and offers tens of concerts in churches, castles and concert halls. The performers are conductors of Järvi family (Neeme, Paavo and Kristjan Järvi), Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Estonian National Male Choir and many others.

At the opening concert on September 21 at the old power station in Peenemünde Museum, Martin Kuuskmann will be the soloist in Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Bassoon Concerto, Baltic Youth Philharmonic will be conducted by Kristjan Järvi.
On September 24, conductor Paavo Järvi together with Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen will give a concert in Peenemünde Museum. Audience can listen Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten and Fratres, and Beethoven’s symphonies Nos. 4 and 7.
On September 27, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir under the direction of Tõnu Kaljuste will give a concert in St. Marien Kirche, performing pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Einojuhani Rautavaara and Claude Debussy, also Arvo Pärt, Cyrillus Kreek and Veljo Tormis.
On October 3, Estonian National Male Choir and Andres Uibo (organ) under the baton of Mikk Üleoja will perform in Wolgast Evangelische Kirche St. Petri, with the program of Andres Uibo’s Apocalypsis Symphony, Rudolf Tobias’s Know Ye Not, Veljo Tormis’s The Bishop and the Pagan, Songs of the Ancient Sea, Incantatio maris aestuosi and Singer and works of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Giovanni Bonato.
On October 12, Neeme Järvi and soloists Maarika Järvi (flute) and Kalev Kuljus (oboe) will be in front of the NDR Sinfonieorchester, playing Eduard Tubin’s Suite of Estonian Dances and Symphony No. 4, Mozart’s Oboe Concerto KV 314 and Peeter Vähi’s Chant of the Celestial Lake.

In addition to the concerts festival offers lectures, master classes and youth festival.
