One of the most significant music awards in Sweden – Christ Johnson-priset by the Swedish Royal Music Academy will be given this year to Per Mårtensson and Mirjam Tally. Tally earned the award with her orchestral work Turbulence „in which the composer through her unique usage of sound has realized a combination of musical innovation and artistic maturity”. The award will be ceremonially given to the composers on November 24 at the Swedish Royal Music Academy by the Crown Princess Victoria. |
Written in 2006 as a commission of the Estonian Music Days Festival,
Turbulencewas premiered in 2007 at the Estonian Music Days Festival by Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and conductor Risto Joost. In October 2008
Turbulenceparticipated in ISCM World Music Days in Vilnius and at The Venice Biennale's International Festival of Contemporary Music.
Turbulencewas also awarded the Composer Prize at the Estonian Music Days Festival 2007.
Since the autumn of 2006, Mirjam Tally lives and works in Visby on the island of Gotland, Sweden.
