Tarmo Eespere

Tarmo Eespere is known in Estonian music landscape as a concertmaster of Estonian National Opera soloists. He is also board chairman at MTÜ "Musicantes" and artistic director of concert series „Ooper Raekojas“ („Opera at Town Hall“).

Tarmo Eespere graduated from Tallinn Music High School in 1977 and from Estonian Music Academy (later Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) in 1982 under the guidance of Valdur Roots. He has also participated at masterclasses of Anna Klas, Mihhail Voznessenski and Hugo Lepnurm.

In 1981–1992 Eespere worked as an accompanier of Estonian National Male Choir. In 1993–2005 taught Eespere at Estonian Academy of Music chamber music department. His students include among others Irina Zahharenkova, Jaanika Rand-Sirp, Siim Selis, Mihkel Mattisen and Iren Lill. Since 1995 Tarmo Eespere works as a concertmaster at Estonian National Opera. In addition, Tarmo Eespere is board chairman at MTÜ „Musicante“ (since 2005) and artistic director of concert series „Ooper Raekojas“ („Opera at Town Hall“).

As a soloist, Tarmo Eespere has performed and recorded mainly his brother´s, composer René Eespere´s music. In 1995 was revealed CD „Concentus“ (Antes, 1995). Eespere has cooperated with several renowned singers and given recitals in Finland, Italy, Germany, Canada, USA, Russia including St. Petersburg Conservatory Large Hall, The Liszt Academy of Music Large Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Kennedy Center. Eespere has repeatedly participated as a concertmaster at summer courses held in Mariinsky Theatre.

Tarmo Eespere has made recordings for Estonian Public Broadcast and has revealed 3 CD-s: „Com Amore“ as cooperation with Valentina Talumaa, „Duett-duell kitarri ja klaveriga“ with Heiki Mätlik and „Christmas Dream“ with Urve Tauts, Pirjo Levandi and Heiki Mätlik.
