On October 24, pianist, improviser and electronic musician Taavi Kerikmäe gave a solo recital at Eva Herz Teatro in Recife within the framework of contemporary music festival “Virtuosi Século XXI” (“Virtuosos of XXIst Century”). The program consisted of music by Arvo Pärt, Jaan Koha, Sylvano Bussotti, Cornelius Cardew, Ilza Nogueira (premiere perfoamnce) and others and free improvisations. |
Kerikmäe also gave a lecture about Estonian contemporary music on the same day at Instituto JCPM.
Contemporary music festival “Virtuosi Século XXI” took place from 24 to 27 October in Recife and was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Brazilian composer Marisa Rezende. The festival also featured Penderecki String Quartet (Canada), Camará Ensemble (Brazil), pianist and composer Jocy de Oliveira (Brazil), composers Chaya Czernowin (USA), Marisa Rezende (Brazil) and many more, also master classes of composer Chaya Czernowin were held.
