Maria Rostovtseva

b. July 21, 1988 Tallinn

Maria Rostovtseva began her composition studies in 2011 at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music College with Tatjana Kozlova-Johannes and in 2015 continued at the Royal Conservatoire the Hague (Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag). There she obtained a Bachelor’s as well as a Master’s degree in composition. Her main teachers there were Peter Adriaansz, Calliope Tsoupaki, Yannis Kyriakides but she also received lessons from Jan van de Putte, Rozalie Hirs, Silvia Borzelli, Alison Isadora, Anne La Berge and Seung-Won Oh.

Furthermore, she has had masterclasses with Justin Christensen, Peter Graham, Ivo Medek, Juhani Nuorvala, Wojciech Widłak, Leo Samama and James Wood. In 2013, she received a Master’s degree in music pedagogy at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Rostovtseva has mainly composed chamber music. Her works have been performed by ensembles Kluster5, But What About nand MikroEnsemble, Residentie Orkest, Latvian Radio Choir, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and others.
