Premieres of Arvo Pärt and Riho Esko Maimets in Toronto

On October 1 at 8 pm, concert The Music of Arvo Pärt will take place in Toronto Koerner Hall organised by Soundstreams – Toronto-based International Centre for New Directions in Music. The program consists of Canadian premieres of Arvo Pärt’s L'abbé Agathon and Adam's Lament, world premiere of Riho Esko Maimets’s Ave Maria for mixed choir and strings, and James Rolfe’s Open Road. Music will be performed by Choir 21 and string orchestra, soprano Shannon Mercer and baritone Geoffrey Sirett under the baton of Tõnu Kaljuste. Concert is preceded by pre-concert chat with Soundstreams Artistic Director, Lawrence Cherney, and composers Riho Maimets and James Rolfe.

Pärt’s music with Estonian conductors can be listened more. At the same day, October 1, Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin’ s season opening will present among Mozart, Schumann and Britten also Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten. The concert in Berlin Philharmony Chamber Hall will be conducted by Kristiina Poska. Pärt’s orchestral work Silhouette will be performed at the concert of Nordic Symphony Orchestra on October 9 and 11 in Tallinn, Estonia Concert Hall and October 10, in Vanemuine Concert Hall, Tartu. NSO is conducted by Anu Tali.
