Pianist Peep Lassmann will perform with cellist Yosif Feigelson in Tallinn and Tartu


 

In the concert series Violino bis! Latvian-born cellist Yosif Feigelson (U.S.) and pianist Peep Lassmann (Estonia) will give two concerts which are held on October 27 at Estonia Concert Hall and October 28 at Tartu University Hall. Both concerts start at 7 pm.
The duo will perform all Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s works for cello and piano: Concert variations, Op. 17, Sonatas for cello and piano, Op. 45 and Op. 58 and Lieder ohne Worte (Songs without Words), Op. 109.
To celebrate Mendelssohn’s 200th birthday, Feigelson and Lassmann performed the same program in Prague, Warsaw, New York and Washington, D.C. earlier this year.

Yosif Feigelson is recognized as one of the foremost cellists of his time. He studied at the Moscow Conservatoire with Mstislav Rostropovich and Natalia Gutman. Feigelson has performed in all major concert halls in the United States and Europe. As a chamber music player, he has collaborated with some of the world’s best known musicians. In addition, he has given master classes to string players at many venues across the United States and Europe. Feigelson’s repertoire consists of more than 50 works for cello and orchestra, an equal amount of sonatas and other music including his own transcriptions.

Peep Lassmann

Peep Lassmann is a highly valued concert pianist and a chamber musician. He has performed piano music by approximately 30 Estonian composers, as well as been distinguished as a superb Messiaen interpreter. His chamber music partners include musicians from the United States, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Cuba and Estonia. Concert tours have taken him to most distant places in the former Soviet Union, also Finland, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Cuba, Bulgaria, Canada, the United States and many other countries. 
Peep Lassmann is a long-time piano lecturer in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, since 1992 also professor and rector. He is a socially active leader figure in Estonian music life.
