New work by Toivo Tulev performed by Nederlands Kamerkoor

This week, Nederlands Kamerkoor will give four concerts, including Toivo Tulev’s new work in program. At the request of Marseille, European Cultural Capital 2013, the Nederlands Kamerkoor will perform the concert titled as Vers la Méditerranée that consists of French choral repertoire. Beside the works of Claude Debussy, Camille Saint-Säens, Maurice Ravel, Francis Poulenc and Jean-Yves Daniel-Lesur, conductor Risto Joost has commissioned two new pieces: Toivo Tulev’s Car j'ai vécu de vous attendre and Philippe Gouttenoire’s new work. Concerts will take place on:
September 19 at Musis Sacrum, Arnhem
September 20 at Pieterskerk, Utrecht
September 22 at Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam
September 22 at Sint Bartholomeuskerk, Beek Ubbergen

The premiere of Tulev’s piece took place on September 16 at the European chamber choir festival Tenso Days within the framework of festival „20 Lieux sur la mer“ in Marseille. In addition to Tulev’s and Gouttenoire’s pieces, Nederlands Kamerkoor performed also works by James MacMillan, Joost Kleppe and Jean-Yves-Daniel Lesur. Concert took place at the MuCEM.

Nederlands Kamerkoor is a top-class chamber choir, whose repertoire varies from medieval to contemporary. In addition to Dutch composers also Sir John Tavener, Giya Kancheli, Harrison Birtwistle, Mauricio Kagel, Karin Rehnqvist and Edith Canat de Chizy have written to the choir. The Nederlands Kamerkoor has released some seventy-five CDs, several of which have been awarded. From the season 2011/2012 the chief conductor is Risto Joost from Estonia.
