Nargenfestival’s concerts in June



The 10th summer season of Nargenfestival starts with the concert of Estonian National Symphony Orchestra in Estonia Concert Hall on June 12. Tõnu Kaljuste will conduct Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Concert for birds and orchestra Cantus Arcticus, Op. 61, Joseph Haydn’s Scena di Berenice, H.XVIIa:10 and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major.

Weekend concerts in Haapsalu Dome Church are dedicated to composer Cyrillus Kreek (1889–1962). On June 13, Kreek’s music will be performed by Marco Ambrosini (nyckelharpa, Italy), Anna-Liisa Eller (kannel) and ensemble Vox Clamantis under the direction of Jaan-Eik Tulve. Concert on Sunday, „Evening Beauty“, brings Tõnu Kõrvits’s Elegies of Thule, arrangements of spiritual folk melodies by Cyrillus Kreek and Pärt Uusberg’s Evening Beauty to the audience. Performers are Mixed Choir HUIK!, Chamber Choir Head Ööd, Vend and Nargenfestival Orchestra under the baton of Kaspar Mänd.

On June 26 and 27, concerts of vocal ensemble Estonian Voices together with Avarus Ensemble (June 27) will take place on Naissaar island, Omari barn. Concerts will be held along with the radio broadcast Night University (in Estonian).
