From September 19 to 27, new version of Mirjam Tally’s orchestral work Winter Island will be premiered in Ukraine. The performances are quite exceptional by the fact that all together four concerts will be performed by different orchestras. Winter Island’s version for two cellos and string orchestra (2012) will be presented on:

September 19 at 7 pm in Sevastopol, Black Sea Navy Sailor´s Club, with Crimean Academic Philharmonic Orchestra;
September 22 at 6 pm in Kharkiv, National Opera Theatre, with Slobozhansky Youth Academic Symphony Orchestra;
September 25 at 6.30 pm in Ivano-Frankivsk, Philharmonic Great Hall, with Ivano-Frankivsk Philharmonic Orchestra;
September 27 at 7 pm Rivne, Philharmonic Hall, with Rivne Philharmonic Orchestra.

At every concert the soloists are Duo Violoncellissimo (Olga Veselina-Vadim Larchikov), conductor is Masataka Matsuo. At the concert tour titled as Vivaldi and Music of Our Times there are two premieres more: Masataka Matsuo’s (1959) Eternal Livre for guitar, cello and string orchestra and Thomas Liljeholm’s (1944) Merging for two cellos and string orchestra.

Winter Island was originally written in 2009 as a Swedish Radio commission for violin, viola and cello and arranged since then for string quartet (2010) as well as for viola, cello and string orchestra (2009).
