Kadri Ploompuu

b. February 3, 1960 Tallinn

Kadri Ploompuu began music studies at  Nõmme Children Music School under the guidance of  Jaan Sepp. In 1979 Ploompuu graduated from Georg Ots Tallinn Music School under the guidance of Leelo Kõlar and 1985 from Tallinn State Conservatory with Docent Lilian Semper. She has studied organ at Georg Ots Tallinn Music School with Aime Tampere (1977–1979) and Tallinn State Conservatory with Professor Hugo Lepnurm (1979–1985).

In 1985–1999 Kadri Ploompuu worked as an organ teacher and concert master at Georg Ots Tallinn Music School, in 1990–1999 was also organ teacher at Church Music School of Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church and 2004–2010 at Institute of Theology of Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church (2008–2010 head of the institute). Kadri Ploompuu’s students include among others Jüri Goltsov, Erika Jefimova, Silvia Pääbo, Olga Gams ect.

Since 1990 Kadri Ploompuu is an organist at St Mary's Cathedral in Tallinn (since 2013 also music director of the church). She has performed as a soloist and ensemblist both in Estonia and abroad including solo concerts in Germany (Kiel), Sweden (Gothenburg), in 2011 at Gotland Organ Festival in Visby Cathedral and Öja Church, in 1992–2008 at several churches in Denmark including St. Mathew's Church in Copenhagen. She has cooperated with several choirs and orchestral projects and gives often organ recitals at St Mary's Cathedral in Tallinn.

In 2004 solo CD with works by composers Johann Sebastian Bach, César Franck, Joseph Bonnet, Max Reger, Sigfrid Karg-Elert and Peeter Süda was released by Kadri Ploompuu. In 2013 trio "Armonia" including musicians Oksana Sinkova (flute), Alina Sakalouskaya, (mandolin) and Kadri Ploompuu (organ) released CD  "Hingekeeled", 2014 also CD “Tallinn Cathedral organ” was released as a cooperation with organist Piret Aidulo. Kadri Ploompuu is member of EELC Church Music Association (1993, since 2010 board member) and Estonian Organ Society (1999).
