Jelena Ossipova

Guitarist, chamber musician, and pedagogue Jelena Ossipova started her guitar studies at the age of 6 at the Maardu Music School. During her studies, she successfully participated in national competitions. In 1996–2000, she studied classical guitar with Tiit Peterson at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School. She continued under the supervision of Heiki Mätlik at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in 2004 and Master’s degree in 2006. In 2005, she was an exchange student at the Sibelius Academy in Finland with Andrzej Wilkus.

She has participated in master courses of Abel Carlevaro, Alvaro Pierri, Eduardo Fernandez, Jukka Saviouk, David Tanenbaum, Zoran Dukic, Nikita Koshkin, Andrew York, Per Skareng, Thomas Kirchoff, Pablo Marquez, Gerhard Reichenbach, Jorgos Panetsos and Jozsef Eötvös. In 2003, she developed her skills at the International Summer Academy Mozarteum in Salzburg under the supervision of Prof Álvaro Pierri.

Jelena Ossipova has given concerts in Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Israel, and Russia. She has performed as a soloist with the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra (Lithuania) and the Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra (Guitar Concerto Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo). As a chamber musician, she cooperates with different Estonian musicians. She teaches guitar at the Art School in Maardu and the Music School in Viimsi.

Her repertoire comprises a wide range of music from Baroque to contemporary music. In addition to well-known pieces, her concert programs also include less frequently performed works. Jelena Ossipova and flutist Oksana Sinkova have released a CD "Across Seas and Oceans" (2012).
