Erkki-Sven Tüür’s world premiere and performances in Europe

 
Tonight, Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Marimba Concerto Ardor will be performed in Germany, Heiden Westmünsterlandhalle, by Heigo Rosin and Baltic Sea Youth Philharmonic under the baton of Kristjan Järvi. From September 10 to 20, the orchestra together with Kristjan Järvi is on tour in Europe, where altogether nine concerts will be given. Tüür’s concerto is in the program for two times more: on September 12 in Zurich Tonhalle and September 15 in Verona, Teatro Filarmonico. Concerts present orchestral music also by Camille Saint-Saëns, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Jean Sibelius, Hector Berlioz, Carl Nielsen, Edvard Grieg, Ludwig van Beethoven, Imants Kalniņš, Wojciech Kilar and Severi Pyysalo, premiere of Gediminas Gelgotas’s Mountain. Waters. (Freedom) as well as Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten.

Next week, on September 18, Tüür’s Insula deserta will be performed in England, Sage Gateshead. The season opening of Royal Sinfonietta presents their new conductor Lars Vogt, the program includes also music by Sibelius, Mozart and Grieg.

On September 20, the world premiere of Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Sow the Wind... will take place in the Great Hall of the Philharmonie de Paris. Performer is Orchestre de Paris under the direction of Paavo Järvi. Concert is part of the „Week-End Arvo Pärt“, beside Tüür’s work also Pärt’s pieces like Fratres, L’abbé Agathon, Swansong and Tabula rasa (violin soloists Viktoria Mullova and Mari Poll) are in the program. Approximately 20-minute piece is the commission of the Orchestra de Paris and Wiener Symphoniker and will be premiered in Vienna Konzerthaus in April 2016.
