Composer and organist Helen Tobias-Duesberg celebrates her 90th jubilee with a concert at the Tallinn St. Carl Church

Concert "Helen Tobias-Duesberg 90" will be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 pm at the St. Carl Church, Tallinn.

 

The works by Helen Tobias-Duesberg, Rudolf Tobias and Hugo Lepnurm will be performed by the Alumni’s Female Choir of the Tallinn University of Technology (cond. Andres Heinapuu, Anne Dorbek), the Concert Choir of the St. Carl Church (cond. Mikk Üleoja), Piret Aidulo (organ), Urmas Vulp (violin), Marje Lohuaru (piano), Kristjan Saar (cello), Kristi Veeber (soprano), Annika Kipso (soprano) and Tiina Renser (piano). Also, a presentation of new fairy-tale book "Imprisoned Prince and other stories” by Helen Tobias-Duesberg will take place. The entrance to the concert is free.


Helen Tobias-Duesberg

Helen Tobias-Duesberg was born on the 11th June 1919 in New York. In 1926, she moved to Estonia with her mother and in 1927 she started studies at the Tallinn State Conservatory, graduating in 1943 as an organist. In the period 1939–1943 she studied at the Berlin Higher School of Music and worked as an organist in Potsdam and Berlin. In 1951, she moved back to the United States, where she was a music pedagogue.
As a composer, Helen Tobias-Duesberg has written a lot of instrumental music, organ and piano works, solo and choir songs. She has also edited and arranged creations of his father, composer Rudolf Tobias.
