Eller’s Contemporary Music Days

From March 7 to 13 festival Eller’s Contemporary Music Days will take place in Tartu.

Festival starts today, on March 7 with Eller’s Day where Alfred Karindi’s 110th birth anniversary will be celebrated. Alo Põldmäe will make a presentation about Karindi’s chamber music, a meeting with Heino Eller Music Award winner Märt-Matis Lill will be held and there will also take place a concert with music by Heino Eller, Eduard Tubin, Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür etc.

On March 9, Tartu New Music Ensemble – Ursula Chillaud (saxophone) and Kadri-Ann Sumera (piano) – will perform a program consisting of works by Lepo Sumera, Andrus Kallastu, Mari Vihmand, Ichiro Nodaira, Fuminori Tanada and Graham Fitkin. The concert will take place at the Tartu City Museum.

Singers Ott Intermitte, Gaili Grüning and pianists Merike Poom, Farištamo Leis will give a concert on March 11 at Eller Hall. Music by Ester Mägi, Urmas Sisask, Jaan Rääts, Mart Saar, Rudolf Tobias, Arthur Honegger and Georg Crumb will be performed.

Festival will end on March 13 with a concert Young Composers – the Creators of Future Music.

Festival is organized by the Heino Eller Tartu Music School.
