Performances of Mart Siimer’s Te Deum

 

This week, Mart Siimer’s Te Deum for three mixed choirs, two organs and string quartet can be listened in Tallinn and Pärnu. Work with unique instrumentation can be performed in Estonia only at places that possess two organs - Pärnu St. Elizabeth’s Church and Tallinn St. John’s Church for instance. The text of the work is brand-new translation of traditional Christian hymn, made by Vello Salo and Indrek Hirv. Performers are Tallinn St. Charles’s Congregation Concert Choir, Girls’ Choir Elise and mixed choir of Pärnu St. Elizabeth’s Church, Mixed Choir Endla, string quartet, baritone Taniel Kirikal, Piret Aidulo and Mart Siimer (organs), conductor Mikk Üleoja. In addition to Te Deum, choirs will present separately a short program.

Concerts will take place on April 30 at 5 pm in Pärnu St. Elizabeth’s Church and May 1 at 1 pm in Tallinn St. John’s Church.
