Rein Rannap and Estonian National Symphony Orchestra

On April 29 at 7 pm concert of Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will take place in Estonia Concert Hall where Rein Rannap’s Concerto grosso in uno movimento will be performed with composer himself playing the celesta and harspchord part. Work written in 1980 is based on models of Baroque music, it is well sounding, melodic and consists the intonations of folk and rock music.

Next to Rannap’s music the program includes Eino Tamberg’s Ballet-Symphony (1959) – youthful work of recently deceased master of orchestral music. In the piece that reflects young woman’s emotional life there is „yearning for something unknown, yearning in which the happiness and hope is still there in spite of its realisation.“

Latvian top composer Pēteris Vasks’s orchestral work Credo (2009) will receive its Estonian premiere. Concert will be conducted by Latvian as well – laureate of International Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition, young conductor Ainārs Rubiķis.
