Estonian National Symphony Orchestra’s third concert tour in the U.S

Tomorrow, on January 25, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra starts its third concert tour in the U.S under the baton of ENSO’s principal conductor Neeme Järvi and fromer principal conductor Arvo Volmer. The orchestra will give seven concerts from Florida to California – St. Augustine, Florida (January 27), West Palm Beach, Florida (January 29), Mason City, Iowa (January 31), Ames, Iowa (February 1), Ann Arbor, Michigan (February 3), Palm Desert, California (February 6) and Soka, Aliso Viejo, California (February 7). The central concert of the tour will be held on February 3 at Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 1990–2005, Neeme Järvi was the Music Director of Detroit Symphony Orchestra based in Michigan and in 1991, he was named the honorary citizen of the state of Michigan. Now he returns to Southeast Michigan with ENSO.

The program of the concerts consists of Johannes Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Hungarian Dance No. 4, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No. 3, Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 and Arvo Pärt’s Fratres, Eduard Tubin’s Symphony No. 5 in B minor and Heino Eller’s Homeland Tune. The soloists will be ENSO’s concert master Triin Ruubel (violin) and Americans Ben Beilman (violin) and Garrick Ohlsson (piano).

The ENSO’s 2018 USA tour is dedicated to the Estonia’s centenary celebrations. The tour is organised by Opus 3 Artists and ENSO. The previous American tours took palce in 2009 and 2013.
