Concert of Jaan Rääts’s music in Strasbourg

On May 25, French pianist Nicolas Horvath will give a concert in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Concert marks the opening of the Estonian Chairmanship in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Pianist has selected only Jaan Rääts’s music into the program, both virtuoso and melodic pieces: „Radio 4“, „Tokaata“, Sonata No. 9 (rev.2014), „Liikumine“ („Movement“, world premiere). Estonian music will be played on Estonia grand piano. Among others, also Estonian Minister of Culture, Mr. Indrek Saar will be present at this invitational concert. Photo exhibition  „Nous, les Rom“ by Annika Haas will be opened as well.

Nicolas Horvath has studied in Monaco’s Academie de Musique Prince Rainier III and École Normale de Musique de Paris. Also he has graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris in electroacoustic music with Gino Favotti (2006) and Christine Groult (2008). He is the laureate of many international competitions including Fukuoka, New York, Yokohama, Lyon, Luigi Nono (Torino), Franz Liszt (Japan), Aleksandr Skriabini (Paris). Extremely involved in contemporary music, Horvath has made the national or world premieres of pieces of more than 130 composers. Nicolas Horvath has introduced Jaan Rääts’s music for a long time, played his music in France, Ukraine, USA and Italy and created composer’s webpage www.jaanraats.com.
