Soprano Katrin Targo was successful in the solo competition in the U.S.

  Estonian soprano Katrin Targo living in Vienna won the third place at the 39th Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition in New York. The competition was organised by Oratorio Society of New York.

The grand finale of eight finalists took place on April 9 at world-famous Carnegie Hall in New York. The winner of the first place was counter tenor Jakub Józef Orliński (Poland/USA) and the second place baritone David McFerrin (USA). In the finals, Katrin Targo performed soprano arias „Ihr habt nun Traurigkeit“ from „Ein deutches Requiem“ by Johannes Brahms and ning „Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion“ from „Messiah“ by Georg Friedrich Händel. The finalists were accompanied by pianist Linda Hall.

The finals judges were Kent Tritle, Alfred Hubay, Julianne Baird, Leslie Fagan and Steven Fox.
