Pianist Mihkel Poll and composer Toivo Tulev in Rome

  On December 12, pianist Mihkel Poll will perform within the festival Nuova Consonanza in Rome. The concert will be held at Sala Casella, the program entitled „Portrait Estonia“ features Italian premieres of Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Paino Sonata, Tõnu Kõrvits’s Hymn to the Invisible Wind Harp, Lepo Sumeras’s Ostinato Variations and Toivo Tulev’s three piano pieces Uji, Bridge and Cadenza, also Arvo Pärts’s Für Alina and Partita, Op. 2 will be performed.
Concert will be preceded by interview with composer Toivo Tulev. From December 9 to 12, Toivo Tulev will lead a composition workshop at Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music. Seminar will explore the aesthetic and technical aspects of modern music in general, and Toivo Tulev’s music in particular. Lectures will concentrate on the analysis of works to be presented by the participants, as well as analyses of some of Tulev’s compositions.

The 51th Nuova Consonanza Festival began on November 12 and will end on December 15.

The concert is organised in cooperation with Nuova Consonanza Festival and Estonian Embassy in Rome.
