Pühalepa Music Festival

From August 15 to 17, Pühalepa Music Festival will take place for the third time on the island Hiiumaa. Festival focuses on baroque and contemporary music, including works of Erkki-Sven Tüür, who was born in Hiiumaa. The festival offers five different and high level concerts in Pühalepa Church.

The opening concert entitled “Songs from Hiiumaa” on August 15 at 6 pm, features Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and conductor Heli Jürgenson. The program consists of music by Rudolf Tobias, Cyrillius Kreek and Erkki-Sven Tüür.

On August 16 three concerts will be held:
2.30 pm, concert of Katariina Maria Kits (violin) and Marcel Johannes Kits (cello), winners of the TV competition “Classical Stars”;
4 pm, concert of baroque ensemble Floridante (Meelis Orgse – baroque violin, Saale Fischer – harpischord, Tõnu Jõesaar – gamba, Ele Raik – baroque oboe)
6 pm, concert entitled “Panufnik and Tüür” of Peep Lassmann (piano), Kalervo Kulmala (horn), Endrik Üksvärav (tenor) and chamber choir Collegium Musicale. The program includes Estonian premiers of Erkki-Sven Tüür a cappella choral work Missa brevis and Roxanna Panufnik’s (UK) “Generation of Love”.

The final concert of the festival on August 17 at 12.30 pm, features ensemble Ulmus Domini.

The artistic director of the festival is Endrik Üksvärav, organizers are NGO Kerema Camber of Culture and NGO Collegium Musicale. The festival takes place in cooperation with Pühalepa Parish governments.
