Tõnu Kõrvits’s new works to be premiered in Tallinn, Tartu and Copenhagen

This week, organist Ulla Krigul will give the premiere of Tõnu Kõrvits’s organ work Hymn to the Blue Sky. Concerts will take place within the Tallinn International Organ Festival and concert series Elite Concerts of the Estonian Association of Professional Musicians. Together with Krigul also mezzo soprano Iris Oja will appear on the stage. In addition of new work, the program includes Philip Glass’s Songs from the Liquid Days, Paul Hindemith’s Organ Sonata No. 1 and Charles-Maria Widor’s Toccata from the Symphony No. 5. Concerts will take place on August 4 at 8 pm in Tallinn Niguliste Church and August 9 at 8 pm in Tartu St. John’s Church.

On August 6, Kõrvits’s new guitar work Serenade will be performed by Mari Mäntyla on a 10-string guitar at the Copenhagen Guitar Festival. The performance will take place at the concert of Finnish Duo Dryades (Mari Mäntylä - 10-string guitar, Kristina Kuusisto - bandoneon) in the Theatre Museum in the Court Theatre. Festival is being held from August 2 to 9 and brings together musicians from Denmark, England, China etc and offers concerts, lectures and master classes.
