Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will perform on December 19 at Estonia Concert Hall and December 20 at Vanemuine Concert Hall. Besides concert name piece, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s „The Nutcracker“, program consists Richard Strauss “Whipped Cream” and Wilhelm Stenhammar´s Piano Concerto No.1. Conductor Mikko Franck, soloist Per Tengstrand (piano, Sweden).

Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker” belongs to many annual Christmas programmes, but the ballet by Richard Strauss “Whipped Cream” is relatively seldom heard. Nevertheless, it is possible to find several similarities in both the story line and the music of the pieces, also both ballets have had orchestral suites arranged later.

The Swedish pianist Per Tengstrand, who performed with ENSO for the first time in Tallinn and Stockholm in 2005, plays Wilhelm Stenhammar’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
