Works by René Eespere to be performed in Germany

In November, recitals of composer René Eespere, who celebrates his 60th birthday, will continue in Berlin. On November 14, the top of his numerous chamber music will be performed by Aurelia Eespere (soprano), Neeme Punder (flute), Harry Traksmann (violin), Marius Järvi (cello), Tiit Peterson (guitar) and René Eespere himself (piano) at the Estonian Embassy in Berlin.

On November 15, Eespere’s chamber works will be presented within the Festival International Guitar Academy Berlin. At the opening concert, taking place at Lotos-Vihara Meditation Centre at 8 pm, Eespere’s brand new work Our Lullabies for guitar orchestra will be premiered. The program also consists of „Modus Vivendi” (1998/2005), „Matbeth“ (2010), „Trivium“ (1991) and „Epigram VI“ (2004). The concert will feature guitarist Benjamin Verdery from the US, Harry Traksmann (violin), Neeme Punder (flute) and Tiit Peterson (guitar) from Estonia and students of Professor Thomas Offermann and students of the International Guitar Academy Berlin and the Rostock University of Music and Theatre.

Composer and pedagogue René Eespere who celebrates his 60th birthday on December 14 this year, has made his name in Estonian music history with widely beloved children’s songs, patriotic choral songs („Ärkamise aeg” [The Time of Awakening], „Kodu on püha” [Home is Holy]), with numerous piano and chamber music works and concertos for different instruments as viola, cello, flute, violin, clarinet, guitar and trumpet. Eespere has been awarded the annual ESSR Music Award (1989), the 4th class Order of the White Star (2001), the Live and Shine Award of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia (2001–2002), the Annual Prize of Endowment for Music of Culture Endowment of Estonia (2008) and the Estonian Music Council Prize (2011).
