Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir’s new CD with music by Max Reger and Rudolf Tobias

Finnish label Ondine released Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir’s CD „Vivit!“ with compositions by Rudolf Tobias (1873–1918) and Max Reger (1873–1916). Choir is conducted by Daniel Reuss, sound engineer is Florian Schmidt.

From amongst Tobias’s works, the CD includes sacred motets like „Ad modum cervae mugit“ (Psalm 42), „Kleine Karfreitagsmotette“, „Oster Vorspiel“, „Ostermorgen“, „Ascendit in coelum“, „Vivit!“, „Liberi Dei“ and „Know Ye Not“. Max Reger is represented with works like „Unser lieben Frauen Traum“ (Op. 138/4), „Der Mensch lebt und bestehet…“ (Op. 138/1), „Nachtlied“ (Op. 138/3), „Zur Nacht“ (Op. 6/2) and „Abendlied“ (Op. 6/3 and Op. 39/2). The piano accompanist is Siim Selis.

There are also two organ works performed by Ene Salumäe: Tobias’s „Nun ruhen alle Wälder” and Reger’s „Melodie“ (Op. 59/11).
The recording session took place from May 4 to 8, at St. Nicholas’ Church in Tallinn.
