Tõnu Kõrvits’s composer recital

As a special event of the Tallinn Philharmonic Society’s festival „The Perfect Silence“, Tõnu Kõrvits’s composer recital will take place on February 6 at 7 pm in Tallinn Methodist Church. The performers are: Anja Lechner (cello, Germany), Kadri Voorand (voice), Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Tõnu Kaljuste.

The program includes two premieres: Song for cello and strings (2012/2013) and Reflections of the Level Land for cello and mixed choir (2013). The title piece of this concert, Seven Dreams of Seven Birds is a 7-part cycle for cello and choir written on texts by Maarja Kangro and Tõnu Kõrvits in 2009, and will now be performed with the string orchestra. Audience can listen also Labyrinths for string orchestra and arrangements of Veljo Tormis’s works Song of the Level Land for voice, kannel and strings and The Last Ship for male choir, bass drum and strings. During the next days, the same program will be recorded for the CD that will be released by ECM.

At the recital, composer himself appears on the stage playing kannel in Song of the Level Land. Concert will be broadcast live on Klassikaraadio.
