Pärnu Contemporary Music Days



From January 5–13, Pärnu Contemporary Music Days will take place one again. Festival initiated in 1988, introduces the main tendencies of the 20th century music history, focusing on modernism and its aesthetic and philosophical principles through concerts, performances, lectures and discussions. This year’s theme is Futurism 2. The event will delve into the substance of futuristic conceptions of different spheres, also exposes and presents art works created in futuristic spirit.

In Saturday, January 5th at 5 pm, an exhibition Project of Experimental Music Instruments will be opened in Pärnu City Gallery in town hall. At the same day at 6 pm, exhibition of the first futuristic opera Victory Over the Sun will be presented in Pärnu City Gallery House of Artists.

PCM will end with the symposium Upon the Heels of Futuristic Ideologies led by Günter Berghaus, Edward Venn, Raivo Kelomees and Galina Gubanova. Symposium will take place in Pärnu Central Library from January 11–13.

In the evening of January 11th, two concerts can be listened: Monika Mattiesen and Cyberstudio at 7 pm in Theatre Endla Küün (Barn) and Ensemble U: in Pärnu Town Hall at 9 pm.
