Erkki-Sven Tüür’s orchestral music in North and South America

In this and next week, Erkki-Sven Tüür’s orchestral works will be performed in state of Mississippi and Colombia. On November 16, Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will play Insula deserta (1989) under the baton of Crafton Beck in Jakcson, Galloway United Methodist Church. Concert program includes also works by John Adams, Benjamin Britten and Franz Joseph Haydn. Marimba concerto Ardor (2001) will be performed at Teatro Pablo Tobón Uribe in Colombia, Medellín. The soloist in front of the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra is Alejandro Ruiz, orchestra will be conducted by Francisco Rettig. Beside Tüür’s music, Colombia orchestra will present Modest Mussorgsky’s cycle Pictures at an Exhibition (Maurice Ravel’s arrangement) and Antonio Vivaldi’s Double Concerto for Violin and Oboe (soloists Gonzalo Ospina and Jorge Pinzón).
