Arvo Pärt’s Days from September 7 to 11

The focus of this year’s festival is on concert-show Passio on Arvo Pärt’s music by Finnish Dance Theatre ERI. The three performances of Passio are held on 7., 8. and 9. September at 7.30 pm at Noblessner Foundry in Tallinn. The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra under conducting of Tõnu Kaljuste will perform fragments of Arvo Pärt’s works Mein Weg, Da pacem Domine, In principio, Festina lente, Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten and Passio.

The internationally acknowledged Finnish Dance Theatre ERI has been inspired by the theme of the Last Supper to create an illustration of the Passion of Christ. Arvo Pärt's religious musical pieces, Tiina Lindfors's choreography and Esa Kyllönen's light art create a unique dancing performance premiered in April 2011 in Turku Cathedral in the program of Turku European Capital 2011.

The festival closes with composer’s birthday concert on September 11 at 8 pm in Tallinn St. John’s Church. The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra with Tõnu Kaljuste will perform works, of which most appear on Arvo Pärt's CD by the record label ECM: Fratres, Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten, Adam's Lament, Salve Regina and Te Deum.

The organizer of Arvo Pärt’s Days is Nargen Festival
