“Eller 125” at Nargen Festival

Within the Nargen Festival, the anniversary of the birth year of Estonian music classic Heino Eller will be celebrated with chamber music evenings, symphonic concert and theatre play.

On August 26 and September 2, Eller’s complete quartet works will be performed by Tallinn String Quartet in Tallinn House of Brotherhood of Black Heads.

One of the major event of “Eller 125” is the performance of Heino Eller's three symphonies on September 1 at 7.30 pm in Noblessner foundry. The epical-lyrical 1st symphony subtitled “In modo mixolydio” (1936), the unfinished 2nd symphony (1948) and the main piece of the later period, 3rd symphony (1961) will be performed by Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and conductor Tõnu Kaljuste. Concert will be broadcast live by Klassikaraadio.

On September 2, chamber concert “Eller&Pärt” will take place at Tallinn Old Town Music House, where Andres Kaljuste (violin) and Sophia Rahman (piano) will present miniatures of Heino Eller and Arvo Pärt. The same program can be listened also on September 3 in Tartu Heino Eller Music School.

On September 5 and 7, Indrek Hirv’s monoplay “The Bells of St Paul's” will be on stage once again. The play about Heino Eller is directed by Margus Kasterpalu and will be played in Tallinn House of Brotherhood of Black Heads.
