New choral work by Riho Maimets premiered in Toronto

On May 15 at 7:30 pm, the Tartu Academic Female Choir gives concert at Trinity-St Paul's United Church, Toronto.

The Tartu Academic Female Choir, hailed as Estonia's foremost women's choir, will be performing a full-length concert of works by Francis Poulenc, Maurice Duruflé, Knut Nystedt and Estonian favourites including Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Ester Mägi and Tõnu Kõrvits. An arrangement of an ancient Estonian lullaby from Kuusalu county, Lase kiik käia (Let the Cradle Swing), written by young Estonian-Canadian composer Riho Maimets for this particular choir, will be premeried. The Tartu Academic Female Choir with conductor Triin Koch is on its Canadian concert tour from May 7 to 22. The concerts are held in Toronto and Ottawa. One of the main aims of choir’s concert tour is to introduce Estonian choral music to Canadian audience.
