Premiere of Helena Tulve’s chamber work in Italy and Austria

On Saturday, Helena Tulve’s new work Rimlands (2012) for clarinet, cello and piano will be premiered by Paul Meyer (clarinet), Alban Gerhardt (cello) and Thomas Larcher (piano). Concert will take place on May 12 in the wine estate Casòn Hirschprunn, Italy, in the framework of the project VIN-o-TON initiated by Alois Lageder winery. The aim of the project led by Thomas Larcher is to emphasize the significance of contemporary classical music, and to stimulate creativity through the annual commissions.

Tulve’s piece is the fifth such work commissioned in the framework of this project, previous composers were Thomas Larcher, Aureliano Cattaneo, Sir Harrison Birtwistle and Johannes Maria Staud.

The second performance of the piece will take place on May 14 in the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens at the chamber music festival “Music in the Giant”, which program has been put together also by composer and pianist Thomas Larcher.

The 20-minute work was commissioned by Swarovski Tourism Services gmbH, Kristallwelten and Alois Lageder / VIN-o-TON.
