Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will perform with Claudio Abbado in Italy and participate in Stockhausen’s opera in Germany

From April 14 to 21, the female section of Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will take part in four concerts in Italy performing Nocturnes by Claude Debussy under the baton of world famous conductor Claudio Abbado. During in April, members of the chamber choir will also participate in opera Sonntag by Kalrheinz Stockhausen at Opera Köln.

The female section of Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will perform Nocturnes for symphony orchestra and female choir with Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra Mozart in four cities in Italy. Additionally, the program also consists of Debussy’s La mer and Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major (soloist Martha Argerich) and Pavane pour une infante défunte. The concerts will take place on April 14 at Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, April 16 at Auditorium Teatro Manzoni in Bologna, April 18 at Teatro Municipale Romolo Valli in Reggio Emilia and April 21 at Santa Cecilia Hall in Rome.

On April 9 and 10, opera Sonntag, which forms one part of the cycle of seven operas Licht by Kalrheinz Stockhausen, premiered at Opera Köln. The second scene Engel-prozessionen consists of seven vocal ensembles – in addition to Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir singers, also members of the chamber choir Cappella Amsterdam are participating. The next performances will take place on April 20, 24, 26 and 28 and May 1.
