New piece by Timo Steiner in the new series of the Tallinn Philharmonic Society

The new concert series of the Tallinn Philharmonc Society entitled Doppio Passione / Kahekordne Kirg [Double Passion] will feature wind and percussion players. Invited soloists from Estonia and abroad will appear both with orchestra and as chamber ensembles. The artistic advisor for the series is clarinettist and conductor Toomas Vavilov.

The series starts with opening concert on February 18 at 7 pm at the Tallinn Blackheads Guildhall. The performers of the very first concert are Tõnu Kalm (clarinet), Vambola Krigul (percussion), percussion students of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, conductor is Toomas Vavilov. The program includes Dance Preludes for clarinet and string orchestra by Witold Lutosławski, The Anvil Chorus by David Lang and Carmen Suite by Bizet-Shchedrin for percussion and string orchestra, as well as the world premiere of Timo Steiner’s new work entitled … seem like moving although I wish them to stand still for clarinet, percussion and string orchestra.
