Erkki-Sven Tüür’s orchestral works in Oslo and Ottawa

In the beginning of February, Erkki-Sven Tüür’s orchestral works will be performed in Norway and Canada. On February 1 and 2, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Eivind Gullberg Jensen will give a concert in Oslo Concert Hall where Tüür’s Viola Concerto Illuminatio (2008) will be performed. Soloist will be Lars Anders Tomter who the work was written for. Before Tüür’s piece, Egil Hovland’s Fanfare & choral will be played, the concert will end with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9.

On February 10, Insula deserta (1989) will be in the program of chamber orchestra Thirteen Strings that will give a concert Northern Lights I with its guest conductor Bradley Thachuk in Ottawa St. Andrew’s Church. The season’s most eclectic program features also compositions by Lars-Erik Larsson, Michael Conway Baker, Niels Gade and Marjan Mozetich.
