Erkki-Sven Tüür’s orchestral music in Cardiff and Moscow conducted by Olari Elts and Paavo Järvi

On January 11, Exodus (1999) will be performed in Wales, BBC Hoddinott Hall by BBC National Orchestra of Wales under the direction of Olari Elts. Afternoon Concert offers music by John Adams, Igor Stravinsky and Aaron Copland as well, concert will be live broadcast on BBC Radio 3 at 2 pm (according to local time).

Orchestral work Aditus (2000/2002) will open the concert on January 20 in Moscow Conservatory Great Hall where Russian National Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Paavo Järvi. Program will continue with Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 2 (soloist Denis Matsuev) and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

On the same day, Amstel Saxophone Quartet will give the performance of Lamentatio (1995) in Ireland, Galway. Saxophone quartet from Holland has recorded the same piece also on their album released in 2002.

Tüür’s music will be played in Moscow Conservatory more in January – already in this week, on January 14, Homecoming Festival Ensemble will be on the stage of Small Hall performing Architectonics IV Per Cadenza ad Metasimplicity (1990) for violin, bassoon, baritone saxophone and piano. Concert is part of the 15th international chamber music festival Homecoming that brings together a number of successful Russian performing musicians who work all over the world.
