Soprano Pirjo Püvi will perform in Canada

Estonian young soprano Pirjo Püvi has been invited to perform at the concerts of international training and development program „Les Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques“. Four concerts will take place from November 24 to 27 in Montreal, Canada. Among other works, Püvi will also perform Estonian vocal music.

The “Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques” is an international program, created in 1994, to help young opera singers between the age of 18 and 35 at the beginning of their professional careers. Each spring, a national audition is held in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver to select the most talented Canadian singers who will be named Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques. In November, all the laureates and guest performers from China, Japan, France, Germany and Estonia will gather together in Montreal to give several concerts, including the gala concert.

This year, the guest performer from Estonia is soprano Pirjo Püvi. At the concerts which will take place on November 24, 25 and 26, Püvi will perform three different arias – Roxane’s aria from “Cyrano de Bergerac” by Eino Tamberg, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s „Durch Zärtlichkeit und Scherzen“ from „Die Entführung aus dem Serail“ and „Je suis Titania“ by Ambroise Thomas. At the gala concert (November 27), where 30 singers will perform, accompanied by pianists Louise-Andrée Baril and Jérémie Pelletier, Püvi will sing the aria „O légère hirondelle“ from Charles Gounod’s opera „Mireille“.
