Tõnu Kõrvits’s composer recital in Reedemer Church in Nõmme

On November 27 at 5 pm, Tõnu Kõrvits’s composer recital will take place in Reedemer Church in Nõmme. The performers are Iris Oja (mezzo soprano), Virgo Veldi (saxophone), Ingely Laiv (oboe), Robert Traksmann (violin), Laur Eensalu (viola), Vambola Krigul (percussion), Kristjan Mäeots (percussion), Ulla Krigul (organ) and Girls’ Choir Ellerhein under the direction of Ingrid Kõrvits. Nõmme Haikus for girls’ choir (2011, dedicated to Nõmme) will be premiered. The choir will perform also the first part of popular Kreek’s Notebook, arranged for girls’ choir and bells. Rest of the program consists of chamber music written in the course of past decade:

Singing Over the Sea for alto saxophone (2006)
Chorales of Thule for soprano saxophone and organ (2008)
Wanderer’s Song for viola (2009)
An Tionnsgann for voice and organ (2010)
The Source for vibraphone and alto saxophone (2000)
Dreamers for oboe and violin (2007)

Concert is the last event of the series A Composer in Residence for Every District in Tallinn that is Estonian Composers’ Union’s contribution to the program of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011. Right before the concert, also nostalgy party Eighties Coming Back will take place on November 25 at 8 pm in Nõmme Culture Centre, where Tõnu Kõrvits will play music he grow up with in 1980ies.
