Concerts of the Netherlands Chamber Choir and conductor Risto Joost

From November 9 to 21, the Netherlands Chamber Choir and conductor Risto Joost will give concerts in eight cities of the Netherlands, performing Sergei Rachmaninov’s “All Night Vigil” (“Vespers”). These are Joost's first concerts with the chamber choir as their new chief conductor.

The concert tour started with concerts in Leeuwarden and Utrecht. Today, on November 15 the “All Night Vigil”, also known as one of Rachmaninov’s two favorite compositions, will be performed in Alkmaar, tomorrow in Amsterdam Muziekgebouw and November 17 in Enschede. In the Hague, Naarden and Arnhem, the concerts will take place on November 19, 20 and 21.

Last performance of the “All Night Vigil” by the Netherlands Chamber Choir was about ten years ago. Then they were led by another Estonian conductor Tõnu Kaljuste, who was the choir’s chief conductor from 1998 to 2000.
In Estonia, Risto Joost will perform the same piece with the Estonian National Opera Choir in May, 2012.
