Erkki-Sven Tüür’s new CD “Awakening” has been released

Record company Ondine released Erkki-Sven Tüür’s CD Awakening. The disc consists of the first recordings of Awakening (2001) for mixed choir and chamber orchestra and The Wanderer’s Evening Song (text: Ernst Enno, 2001) for mixed choir a cappella as well as much recorded “Insula deserta” (1989) for chamber orchestra. The title work is written on texts by Estonian poets Juhan Liiv, Ernst Enno, Jaan Kaplinski and Doris Kareva as well as liturgical texts in Latin connected to Easter Day. Piece was commissioned by European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011 and it was premiered in March 2011. Tüür’s music was recorded by Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Sinfonietta Rīga with Daniel Reuss conducting.

The presentation of the CD will take place on October 20 at 2.30 pm in Tallinn City Gallery (Harju Street 13), where the program includes the performance of chamber choir and composer.
