Estonian premiere of Urmas Sisask's "New Zodiac"

Today and tomorrow, Urmas Sisask’s cycle The New Zodiac Op. 81 (2002) will receive its Estonian premiere. Extensive chamber work is dedicated to guitarist Boris Björn Bagger and is inspired of 13 constellations. Every movement is preceded by a folktale told by composer himself. The musical part will be performed by Neeme Punder (flute) and Tiit Peterson (guitar). Concerts will take place on October 11 at 6 pm in Karksi Culture House, October 12 at 7 pm in Laupa Manor and November 9 at 6 in Põlva Music School. Concert is organised by Eesti Kontsert.

Sisask’s music can be listened soon at his recital in Tallinn, Lindakivi Cultural Centre, on October 22. It forms a part of series A Composer in Residence for Every District in Tallinn that is Estonian Composers’ Union’s contribution to the program of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011.
