Russian premiere of Safra by Tõnu Kõrvits

On September 26, Russian premiere of Tõnu Kõrvits’s Safra will take place at the X International Music Festival “The Seasons” in Moscow. The piece inspired of fire and burning will be performed by Mihkel Poll and “The Season” Moscow Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Vladislav Bulakhov. The festival’s final concert wil be held in the Rachmaninov Hall of Moscow Conservatory. The first part of the concert presents music by Joaquin Turina (1882–1949), Igor Evard (b. 1963) and Аlexander Arutiunian (b. 1920), the second part is opened by Kõrvits’s Safra and followed by Spanish folk songs arrangements.

Mihkel Poll (b. 1986) is a successful young pianist who owns several winnings from international competitions. Currently he is studying at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Prof. Ivari Ilja and in Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Prof. Ronan O´Hora.

Safra (2005) for piano and string orchestra was premiered in Mänttä Music Festival in Finland (soloist Niklas Pokki). The work can be listened from the double CD Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre 90.
