Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir 30

From September 9 to 12, season opening concerts of Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will take place. Concerts dedicated to the 30th anniversary of EPCC present Arvo Pärt’s “2 slawische Pslamen”, Galina Grigorjeva’s “Nox vitae” (text: Innokenti Annenski) and Rudolf Tobias’s “Kleine Karfreitagsmotette” and “Vivit!” as well as music by Alfred Schnittke and Johannes Brahms. Pärt’s “Es sang vor langen Jahren” (text: Clemens von Brentano) will be performed by Iris Oja (alto), Harry Traksmann (violin) and Arvo Haasma (viola).

Concerts will take place in St. John’s Church, Tartu (9.09), Dome Church, Haapsalu (10.09), Church of the Holy Trinity, Rakvere (11.09) and St. Nicholas’s Church, Tallinn (12.09). In Rakvere, Arvo Pärt’s birthday concert, his most extensive a cappella choral piece “Kanon Pokajanen” will be performed. Photo exhibition dedicated to the jubilee season can be visited in the lobby of Estonia Concert Hall from September 1 (curator Tõnu Tormis).

Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir was founded in 1981 by Tõnu Kaljuste who was choir’s artistic director and chief conductor for 20 years. His work was carried on by Paul Hillier (2001–2007). Starting with the season 2008/2009, choir’s artistic director and the chief conductor is Daniel Reuss.
