Birgitta Festival on August 13-21

Birgitta Festival is held from 13 to 21 August in its traditional venue - the ruins of Pirita monastery in Tallinn. This year the festival program includes two opera performances by Moscow opera theatre Helikon (Antonín Dvořák’s Rusalka and Georges Bizet's Carmen), two ballet performances by Russian National Ballet (Chopiniana / Romeo and Juliet with music of Frédéric Chopin / Alexander Glazunov and Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and La Bayadère with music by Ludwig Minkus). Giuseppe Verdi's opera Attila will be staged as a cooperation project of the International Opera Music Festival in Pärnu - PromFest, Kaunas State Musical Theatre and Pärnu theatre Endla. On August 14, native American ceremonial music and dance will be shown by Copper Maker Dancers, and the closing performance of the festival will be held by show-vocal group Voca People on August 21. Artistic director of the festival is conductor Eri Klas.
