From August 9 to 20, Erkki-Sven Tüür’s string cycle Action.Passion.Illusion will be played at 10 concerts in Australia. Australian Chamber Orchestra’s “little sister” and regional touring orchestra ACO2 under the baton of its guest conductor Thomas Gould will perform a popular piece at 10 concerts in different cities in New South Wales and Queensland: Port Macquarie, Glasshouse (9.08), Grafton, Clarence Valley Conservatorium (10.08), Redlands, Redland Performing Arts Centre (12.08), Nambour, Civic Centre (13.08), Gladstone, Entertainment Centre (14.08), Rockhampton, Pilbeam Theatre (16.08), Mackay, Entertainment & Convention Centre (18.08), Cairns, Civic Theatre (19.08) and Darwin, The Studio (20.08). ACO2 consists of the core of Australian Chamber Orchestra and young musicians of the new generation.

Tüür’s cycle consists of three pieces written in 1993: Action, Passion and Illusion. These will be followed by Franz Schubert’s Sonata in A minor Arpeggione D821 (arranged for strings by Dobrinka Tabakova) and Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations (arranged for strings by Dmitri Sitkovetsky).

The cooperation between Tüür and Australian Chamber Orchestra will continue in November when the orchestra goes on Australian tour with the world premiere of Tüür’s new piece.
